The Cost of Discipleship
The Cost of Discipleship
Just finished the book The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer so I sat down and wrote some thought about Grace. Thought you might fined them interesting.
BY GRACE:
- I die daily because I have been crucified with Christ and my flesh (fallen nature or old self) no longer lives; Christ lives in me. Therefore, by virtue of Christ, I am now perfect. There is no sin in my past which I am guilty of; it is washed away.
- Jesus pushes the me out of me so that my me will be He. By God's power (not mine) my daily act of dyeing is a gift from Him which is delivered by the Holy Spirit. Today I die and Christ lives in me.
- Christ living in me performs the good works for which God created me. Therefore, I have noting to boast in, other than Christ Himself. (It is not me who does it it is Christ)
- I die; Christ lives in me. God sanctifies me daily for the sake of His Kingdom. My whole duty is to die daily. All else is up to Him in me. The real beauty is His grace gives me the ability to lay down my life daily. My ability to die is not even of myself it is of the One whom I follow, the One who died to give me life.
Hope you enjoy. See you Sunday if not before. God loves you And so do I.
